Facebook has begun a collaboration with Agent of Change Foundation to donate Oculus Go headsets and 360 cameras to eight local schools in Hong Kong.
The eight schools that joined include Belilios Public School, Caritas Chai Wan Marden Foundation Secondary School, Carmel Alison Lam Foundation Secondary School, Leung Shek Chee College, Lions College, Po Leung Kuk Choi Kai Yau School, HKSKH Bishop Hall Secondary School and Wah Yan College Kowloon.
George Chen, head of Public Policy, Hong Kong and Taiwan at Facebook, said the company is supporting virtual reality in Hong Kong schools to create innovative learning environment.
Wayne Chau, founder and chairman at Agent of Change Foundation, says education should inspire students’ boundless imagination of the future and prompt them to bring positive change to their lives and even the society. He believes that VR, when combined with innovations, can strengthen students’ abilities to solve everyday and life’s critical problems.
The program’s name, ‘No Boundaries’, reflects the hope of helping students create customized experiences by enabling them to immerse in different locations, observe their surroundings and gain experiences that are otherwise unavailable in real life.
The foundation will use its network and experience in serving the society to help 80 teachers and students gain immersive experiences at their schools and in their communities.
